Zachary Cusumano, Ph.D.   |   Vice President, Research & Project Planning

Dr. Cusumano has more than 15 years of broad research and industry experience spanning oncology and infectious disease. He joined NextCure in 2017 and has led the Program Management function, supporting the successful submission of three INDs and continued execution of on-going clinical development. Prior to NextCure, Dr. Cusumano served as a reviewer at the FDA where he participated in the review of IND, NDA, and BLA submissions. Before joining the FDA, he served as VP of Research at Fimbrion Therapeutics where he led preclinical development of novel anti-virulence therapeutics for urinary tract infection, ultimately resulting in a collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline. Dr. Cusumano received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Washington University in St. Louis. During his time as a scientist, Dr. Cusumano, published in peer-reviewed journals, authored a book chapter, and contributed to the writing of several successfully funded grants.
